Internal Auditor
Fond du Lac - Full-time
Summary
This position will be overseen by the VP Compliance and an outside internal audit firm in a co-sourced internal audit environment. The outside internal audit firm will oversee the preparation of a risk based audit plan, review all work papers and reports and provide expertise, direction and support to the Internal Auditor.
The Internal Auditor provides an independent and objective opinion by measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of and adherence to financial, accounting, and operational policies, procedures and/or regulations. Audits are performed across all functional areas of the Bank. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Timely completion of all audits in accordance with the Audit Plan approved by the Board annually.
- Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, fraud or non-compliance with laws, regulations and management policies.
- Prepares audit reports outlining the scope of the audit and its results, and recommends corrective action as necessary.
- Participate in "audit closing meetings" with appropriate department managers to communicate audit findings.
- Coordinate and assist in the documentation of internal controls.
- Testing of internal controls.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Knowledge of applicable banking and/or regulatory policies and procedures.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word).
- Excellent organization skills.
- Superior analytical skills.
- Effective problem solving and decision making skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to be mobile in order to move to various departments and branches to conduct audits.
Training and Preparation
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent audit experience.
- 2 years audit experience, banking preferred OR
- Minimum of 2 years banking operations experience.
