Teller
North Main Fond du Lac Office - Part-time (18-24 Hrs/wk)


Summary

Under general supervision, but in accordance with established policies and procedures provides a variety of services to customers. These services include processing savings transactions, checking accounts, cashing checks, closing of savings accounts, selling money orders and cashiers checks, and cross-selling services. Finally, a responsibility to distribute and verify currency and to balance and maintain drawer limits.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Is accountable for representing the bank to the customer in a courteous, professional manner, and for providing prompt, efficient, and accurate services in processing transactions.  This includes cross-selling products and referring customers to appropriate departments within the bank.
  • Receives checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for endorsements and negotiability, and enters transactions into bank records via a teller terminal. 
  • Cashes checks and pays money from savings and checking accounts upon verification of signatures and customer account balances.  Inspects all checks, money orders, savings withdrawals, and so forth to determine their negotiability and the reliability of the presenter.
  • Process coin transactions which may require bending and lifting of coin bags weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Issue money orders and cashier's checks to customers which requires walking to a typewriter to type process the transaction. 
  • Distributes and verifies currency  Balances and maintains drawer limits daily.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Education and Skills

  • Outgoing interpersonal skills to represent the bank in a positive way in dealing with customer and teller transactions.
  • Ability to operate a teller PC terminal and other standard office equipment, including a calculator, typewriter, coin machine, and other equipment as assigned.
  • Ability to be mobile to process transactions such as issuing cashier's checks and to buy and sell cash from vault teller.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of teller training period.
  • Cash handling experience and customer service skills.
  • Bank experience preferred.
